Hawks, stop, and goal! On September 22nd, 2010 our very own Humber Hawks faced off against the Niagara Knights in Men’s Soccer on the home field at Humber Valley. It was a fantastic game, ending with a score of 2-0 scored by Nick Cisternino with only 17 minutes remaining in the second half, and Yousif Yousif scoring the final goal from a free ball at close range just 7 minutes later. Although, through the whole game it was said that the Niagara Knights put up a strong fight making it seem as though they could score on us Hawks. To their dismay, the Hawks kept strong and thwarted any hope of the Knights getting a goal against them. Now having two wins and one tie, our men’s soccer team is placed first in the West Division. O LAY O- LAY O LAY O LAY!!! To catch the next game of men’s league soccer it will be on September 29th, 2010 at Conestoga College with kick off at 5pm. come support our team with another victory!
Next, we look at the women’s soccer team -who also played against the Niagara Knights, but on the 15th- to excitedly report the overwhelming victory of 5-1 Hawks! This comes as an unprecedented victory due to the fact that the Niagara Knights woman’s team was undefeated till they challenged our girls (Obviously!). In the first half, Keyla Moreno and Connie Tamburello scored the first two goals. Then the last three goals came in the second half, again, by Keyla Moreno followed by Brittany Sczerbakow and Leslie Quigley. In the end, the girls have a matched record with the guys having two wins and one tie of the season. Their next game is one day before the men’s (September 28, 2010) at 5pm as well. Let’s keep the spirit of Humber alive and cheer on the girls at Conestoga College!
Our men's rugby team had a very important game on Saturday against Mohawk who unfortunately defeated our boys last year by one point in the OCAA Championships. So Saturday’s game was very important to come out and show their biggest competition what they are in for this year! Unfortunately the score did not go in our favor on Saturday Mohawk had won 29-24. Although the boys were not able to come out on top it was a great game of rugby, and the boys were sure to let them know that they are not going down with out a fight and will now have a lot of work to do to be ready when they face them again. Come out and show your support this Thursday at our Valley Field when the boys play Conestoga!!

Hawks Start Strong Again for Baseball, Rugby, and Soccer
Hawks start strong once again after holding tryouts for most of the varsity teams in the past few weeks Humber is looking forward to a very strong year once again. There are many talented athletes returning and along with many new athletes looking to prove themselves this upcoming season.
The Hawks family is very excited about introducing two new teams to their program. First, Men’s Baseball, with a record of 3 wins and 3 losses so far this season are very pleased that they have stayed competitive with other veteran teams in the league. Two games were held earlier today with the results unknown at the moment, but after today’s games there are still 8 league games left. With having so many games left it gives Humber a great opportunity to really show their talent. The next home game is Saturday, September 25 at 1pm, so come out and show us your support!
The next team our Hawks are very excited to have join their program is Women’s Rugby. Tryouts were completed last week for this team and former two-time OCAA champion Brett McCully has chosen a great team eager to compete. The first home game is on Saturday October 16 at 11am for anyone interested in supporting our new teams!
We are also looking forward to what will hopefully be another successful season for previous Hawks Fall Sports here are the standings to date:
Once again Hawks start strong, and if you would like to keep up to date will all of our varsity teams add Humber Varsity on Facebook or check out the athletics homepage http://www.athletics.humber.ca/index.htm
