Hawks Start Strong Again for Baseball, Rugby, and Soccer

Hawks start strong once again after holding tryouts for most of the varsity teams in the past few weeks Humber is looking forward to a very strong year once again. There are many talented athletes returning and along with many new athletes looking to prove themselves this upcoming season.

The Hawks family is very excited about introducing two new teams to their program. First, Men’s Baseball, with a record of 3 wins and 3 losses so far this season are very pleased that they have stayed competitive with other veteran teams in the league. Two games were held earlier today with the results unknown at the moment, but after today’s games there are still 8 league games left. With having so many games left it gives Humber a great opportunity to really show their talent. The next home game is Saturday, September 25 at 1pm, so come out and show us your support!

The next team our Hawks are very excited to have join their program is Women’s Rugby. Tryouts were completed last week for this team and former two-time OCAA champion Brett McCully has chosen a great team eager to compete. The first home game is on Saturday October 16 at 11am for anyone interested in supporting our new teams!

We are also looking forward to what will hopefully be another successful season for previous Hawks Fall Sports here are the standings to date:
  • Woman’s Soccer W-1 T-1 L-0
  • Men’s Soccer W-1 T-1 L-0
  • Men’s Rugby W-1 T-0 L-0
  • Men's Baseball W-3 T-0 L-3
Cross Country, Attended their first race this weekend at University of Guelph and placed runner within the top 20. They are hoping to be just as successful as or better than last year where woman runners placed 3rd at the CCAA and men runners placed 7th at the CCAA.

Once again Hawks start strong, and if you would like to keep up to date will all of our varsity teams add Humber Varsity on Facebook or check out the athletics homepage http://www.athletics.humber.ca/index.htm

  1. Its very exciting to see that the mens baseball team dispute being new this season hasn't suffered from lack of training or practices. When teams first start in a league it takes time to build the team relationships. It takes a while before the team members can come together and become a team that works well together.
